Citroen ZX Rallye-Raid 1994 – Francja

Citroen ZX Rallye-Raid zdominował swoją epokę w rajdach cross-country, wygrywając w siedmiu latach startów pięciokrotnie Puchar Świata i czterokrotnie najtrudniejszy rajd na świecie – Paryż-Dakar (Ari Vatanen – 1991, Pierre Lartique 1994-96). To egzemplarz odkupiony od ekipy fabrycznej, którym załoga Hubert Auriol – Gilles Picard zdobyła trzecie miejsce w Rajdzie Atlasu w Maroku w 1994 roku. Aktualnie po przeglądzie, przygotowany do dalszych startów w klasie historycznej. Przewidywana cena: 60-100000 euro.

– Factory competition car
– An example of the formidable Citroën fleet
– Sophisticated and ultra-powerful model
– Recently recommissioned
– 3rd in the 1994 Atlas Rally with H.Auriol / G.Picard

The 1990s were marked by Citroën’s success in cross-country rallying, winning five consecutive constructors’ titles in the World Cup. After a promising start in 1990 (1st and 2nd place in the Baja Aragon with Vatanen and Ickx), the ZX rallye-raid prototypes established their credentials by chalking up several victories in 1991 and 1992. However, it was in 1993 that the marque established itself at the top of the championship, not relinquishing the title until after 1997.

The car we are delighted to offer is the ZX Rallye-Raid campaigned by Citroën Sport in the Atlas Rally in Morocco in 1994. Numbered Citroën Sport ZX 3 C326 and driven by Hubert Auriol and Gilles Picard, the car took third place overall, as confirmed by the certificate from Citroën in the file. Competing in the prototype class, this car had little in common with a series ZX beyond its broad shape. In fact, it was an evolution of the Peugeot 405 T16, the Paris-Dakar winner in 1988 and 1990.

With very high ground clearance, the ZX Rallye-Raid is equipped with four-wheel drive and a mid-positioned engine mounted transversely. This is a type XU 15 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 330 bhp at 4,500 rpm. The gearbox is mounted transversely, with limited slip differential at front and rear, and the car has ventilated disc brakes on separate front and rear circuits controlled from the cockpit.

The car has recently been recommissioned by the driver and specialist in this type of vehicle, David Henry. Here is a very rare opportunity to acquire a genuine factory competition car, bought directly from the manufacturer who had preserved it following its retirement. In superb condition, this spectacular car can be used in historic displays and will be sold with its French title in the name of Automobiles Citroën.
