BMW 3.0 CSL to pierwszy wóz stworzony przez oddział “BMW-Motorsport GmbH”, z myślą o rywalizacji na torach wyścigowych. Nazwę CSL (“coupé sport lightweight”) uzyskało dzięki niższej masie – maskę, dach i pokrywę bagażnika wykonano z aluminium. Przedstawiony egzemplarz to jedna z 429 sztuk z 3-litrową jednostką, w specyfikacji do ruchu prawostronnego. Odbudowany w zgodzie z oryginalną specyfikacją, 29 października był licytowany przez dom aukcyjny Auctionata, lecz nie osiągnął ceny minimalnej. W ofercie poaukcyjnej oferowany jest za 283.510 EUR (ok. 1,25 mln PLN).

This CSL is an Italian first delivery coming from the first owner. The vehicle was build up faithfully by a CSL specialist on the basis of a rust free body and is in an overall good condition. It was restored with originality in mind. Overall there were only 429 of these 3-liter direct injection left-hand drive exemplars produced. This is a very good investment with a high potential to increase in value.

The sport-coupé of the 1970s was one of the most elegant vehicles of its time and the first model of the later „BMW-Motorsport GmbH“, so it can be called the first „M“-BMW. The name CSL (coupé sport lightweight) was used due to the economization in weight: hood, roof, trunklid and doors were made of aluminium. The empty weight was only 1165 kg and the vehicle could accelerate to 100 km/h in only 7.4 seconds.
