Jaguar XK150 3.8 SE DHC 1960 – SPRZEDANY

Jaguar XK150 3.8 SE DHC

KEY FACTS

This Jaguar XK150 SE DHC is a well-restored example of the final iteration of the original ‘XK’ family, finished in a handsome green over tan colour scheme.

Under the long bonnet sits a 3.8-litre DOHC ‘SE’ inline-six producing around 220bhp, which is coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission – which the seller states makes it great fun to drive, and much easier than the manual shift.
The car benefitted from a full respray around three years ago, when the interior was also renewed, and the engine was rebuilt.

It has covered 291 miles since, however the vehicle’s true total mileage is unknown.

The seller notes that a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms that the car was originally a left-hand drive, US-market example, which was finished in Cornish Grey over a red leather-trimmed interior.
The seller also states that the car’s engine and body numbers match the original records.
Only 586 examples of the XK150 DHC were built with the standard ‘VA’ code 3.8-litre engine, and far fewer were specified with the Borg Warner automatic transmission.
The vehicle has been with its current owner for the last ten years.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

In the ‘SE’ specification, the XK150’s 3.8-litre engine featured twin SU HD6 carburettors, delivering an impressive 220bhp at 5,500 rpm, and enabling a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.4 seconds.
This XK150 has been refinished in a handsome dark green hue with a black canvas convertible hood, over a reupholstered tan leather-trimmed interior.
It rides on a set of black-painted 15-inch wire wheels with chrome two-ear knock-offs, which house four disc brakes and are shod in Maxxis MA-1 tyres.
The car is noted to have been fitted with a subtle electronic ignition system integrated into the original distributor, and an electrically operated fuel valve which equalises fuel pressure when the engine is firing up, both of which are recommended Jaguar upgrades.
The vehicle will be supplied with photographs of its prior restoration, some instructions, a selection of parts receipts, a cover for the roof, and the key for the wheel nuts.
It will also accompanied be accompanied by a Classic Data valuation estimate certificate.

CONDITION

The dark green paintwork is described by the seller as being in excellent condition, and was painted three years ago. The car has covered just 291 miles since.
The windscreen has scratches on the right side and some bubbles on the bottom left side. The flexible roof fasteners at the handles left and right side also have slight damage.
Inside, the cabin presents equally well, having been totally renewed and restored. It presents in truly impressive condition, again with no significant defects.
The seller notes that if there are any minor flaws, they are visible in the photos.
There are minor oil leaks from the engine and gearbox, though according to the workshop where it was restored these are typical problems associated with this model, and that they will decrease if the car is used.
The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults.
The car’s most recent inspection of roadworthiness was conducted 200 miles prior to listing, during which the seller notes that the only advice was that the car was to check all of the suspension bolts for tightness after the car has covered its first 1,000 miles of driving.

SERVICE HISTORY

This Xk150’s latest service was carried out at an indicated 50 miles. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change following the first mileage after the engine overhaul.
Prior to this, the car received the aforementioned major engine overhaul.

SUMMARY

Boasting gorgeous styling and the powerful 3.8-litre ‘SE’ specification engine, this 1960 Jaguar XK150 DHC presents in impressive order, thanks largely to extensive restoration and mechanical work. A cherished example which has covered very limited mileage since its rebuild, this XK would make an excellent addition to any collection of British classics, and a refined companion for weekend drives on its new owner’s favourite roads.
