The 911 was only the second car from Porsche. At the presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 the 911 was not particularly well received. Too big, too heavy and not at all true to the Porsche tradition of making small, lightweight sports- and racecars. Little could the critics know that the 911 was to become the biggest success and longest living car from not only Porsche, but in the history of all car makers. Manufactured for more than half a century it is also the most successful car in motorsport ever. 1965 are considered the first year of the 911 as the few cars from introduction to 1965 are considered prototypes and had no serial numbers.
This early 911 is from September 1965 and was sold new from Porsche dealer Kahrmann in Fulda, Germany. The original color combination was Bahama yellow with black vinyl interior. Quite early in its life maybe late 1960es it was exported to Denmark and have been here ever since.
This car has been subject to a recent total restoration were the car was taken apart. The body had all rust repaired. The original 2 liter 130 BHP engine was taken apart and rebuilt. The rare Solex carburetors were also rebuilt and the engine now pulls and runs more smoothly than we have experienced any carbureted 911 engine do. Comes with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
