Porsche 924 Turbo 1981 – Niemcy

Taki układ gwarantował doskonały rozkład masy, a turbosprężarka montowana w topowej wersji dbała, by osiągi były satysfakcjonujące.

Detailed description

Looking at the current program and the company’s history, it is hard to believe that Porsche wanted to change to front engine cars in the late 1970s. The Dutchman Harm Lagaaj, who later designed the Z1 for BMW, gave the 924 an entirely new shape with hidden headlamps and a glass dome rooftop, its transaxle gearbox technology was superb. The sales figures of the 924 were good, but for many the output of the Volkswagen/Audi engine was too low. That was the reason why Porsche introduced the 924 Turbo (model code 931) with hemispheric combustion chambers, differently arranged spark plugs and a KKK turbo charger in 1979. It had an output of 5500/rpm, 125 kW (170 hp) and an acceleration of 7.8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h. The maximum speed was at 225 km/h. As of 1981 it had 130 kW (177 hp) and reached a top speed of 230 km/h, owed to a higher compaction and a different motor control unit. After four years production of the 924 Turbo stopped in June 1982, since the Porsche 944 with its “big cheeks”, introduced in 1981, had become more popular.

This Porsche 924 Turbo S 2 embodies the original design, however, with additional vents in front and the turbo duct on the hood, also with seats in the extravagant “Pascha-Decor“, inspired by checkered flags, as well as with the factory-made two-color finish. Thanks to the loving care, this 924 Turbo S2 is in an absolutely original condition, it was professionally taken out of service in 2008 and is now an object for collectors with which one can’t go wrong.
